Just another holiday????

Today we are celebrating our 61st Independence day. With developments all over the country we have a reason to celebrate it.

But as heading suggest is it just another holiday that we get???

If you ask me. I would say yes it is true to certain limit...We can get the confirmation about the it once we ask the same question to our self...Most of the people the day before 15 August or 26th January are just happy coz they will be getting another holiday be it work or college.

For most of the people it was just another holiday day....
But if you ask others specially children they will have a lot to do on this day....for them its all about the flag hoisting, the singing of national anthem, distribution and eating of sweets...and the most important thing pining up of the flag on shirt..and proudly saying happy independence day...

"Sare Jahan Se Achha" and "Vande mataram" are sung with great pride, happiness, zeal and great fervor.

For me that is actual celebration of independence day...rather that sitting at home and sending sms's wishing each other..dont you think so???

A week before independence day you will start seeing small kids selling flags on the street...Poor one's are deprived of all basic necessity...They are forced to sell this things against their will. But only to get 2 meals a day they go against their will and get on the road...Independence day is all about celebrating our freedom...But these kids are deprived of that....
The part that I like most of these kids is even when they sell the flags on the street they have a smile on their face and they proudly say"Vande mataram" or "Jai Hind" when they approach us.

Its really makes you wonder how they get so much strength to bear those circumstance and still be happy...It makes me sad that the very next day we find national flags soiled around thrown in all nook and corner.

As said to understand the real meaning and importance of freedom ask those who are deprived of it...and may be then you will understand what freedom means...

So respect the freedom that you have….

well i was goin thru the same emotion
truly as u said we sd respect our freedom, cz even after 61 yrs of independence 60% of India;s population earns less that 20 rs per day n millions of ppl sleep hungry everyday

wt does freedom mean to them
v sd ask them
well written this is something to ponder on.

The very fact that these children are able to fight for their own survival and their rights is a mark of our country's independence. The fact that millions of people go to work each day and strain to make things work is a testimony to the fact that they respect their country, that they have a sense of belonging and duty.

Our democracy, I believe, is a very strong one, and though we have gone through a lot, in the end, we emerge as a country that is ruled by the people, for themselves.

All that is needed is for us to realise the true value of our freedom.

and i feel that we celebrate democracy everyday :), the thing is we gotta celbrte indian democracy...and that u can leave well to nature coz i believe its a natural cycle that when something reaches its limit, it will again tend to the stable environment....but u did a good job to write it here, we dont want to reahc that ultimately against natue level
furthermore, i feel the indian democracy needs some reforms..i dont know what reforms..but i cant imagine ppl like mayawati in the race to the prime ministrial post
