The Statue of Liberty is set to be overshadowed, albeit on the other side of the Atlantic. The Congress-NCP alliance government in Maharashtra has decided to install a 309-foot-tall Shivaji statue, four feet taller than the New York monument and the tallest in India - in the Arabian Sea off Mumbai's Marine Drive.The project is said to cost about a whopping Rs 200-crore.
Now people I knew how our government is use to spending on unwanted things...but this was a limit...Do we really need another Shivaji statue in the city....I dont think so.With Due respect to Shivaji Maharaj...I guess there are many more important things where the government could have used this money..
Was readin DNA today when I saw views from some well known TV personalities...was really shocked when i saw one of them sayin that congress should spend 500 cr..the other said that its not about money its bout feeling..
I bet We dont have to show our feeling by spending so much..200 cr is not a small amount...and i guess it can be put to better use than jus the statue...
Its really sad that politicians are more concered about a statue than the state of the country...
